1. What is this Distribution Programme?

It is the distribution of Residential Lots to eligible Petrotrin Employees, who received termination benefits resulting from the closure of the Petrotrin Refinery and the restructuring of the Exploration and Production activities in November, 2018.

2. Who can apply?

All past employees of Petrotrin who received a termination benefit resulting from the closure of the Petrotrin Refinery and the restructuring of the Exploration and Production Activities in November 2018 and who are not current land owners or co-owners.

  1. ✓ A citizen of Trinidad and Tobago and have been residing (uninterrupted) in Trinidad and Tobago for the last five (5) years;

  2. ✓ Be first-time homeowners that is, not be owner/part owner of house (dwelling unit)/land in Trinidad and Tobago (i.e. Land upon which a house can be built)

3. What is the size of these ?

The lots will comprise of approximately 5000 sq ft.

4. What will it cost?

The application for the distribution of residential plots of land will be at no cost to the eligible recipients with all the administrative and legal costs of land distribution borne by the state, save and except all post lease property related taxes and fees.

5. How long is the lease?

Leases will be issued for one hundred and ninety-nine (199) years, for the five thousand square foot (5,000 ft) plots.

6. How will these plots be allocated?

  1. ✓ A lottery draw for eligible applicants

  2. ✓ Interview process

  3. ✓ Allocation of lots to successful interviewees

A lottery draw similar to the allocation of State Housing Programmes will be implemented for eligible applicants. This draw will be supervised by a reputable accounting firm

7. What additional documentation is required to be submitted with the application?

  • 8. Can I dispose of the residential lot?

    The lessee will not be able to assign, sublet, transfer, or part with the possession and or/dispose of the whole or any part of the demised land under this lease to any person not less than ten years after the grant of the lease. Thereafter the residual portion of the lease may be sold subject to consent for transfer from the Commissioner of State Lands (COSL).

    9. Where can I collect physical copies of forms?

    Upon submission, a receipt bearing a reference number would automatically be generated together with the requisite attachments, details of which can be found on page two (2) of the application form and uploaded.
